Brent MacDonald, Head Coach of the Xavier Musketeers Men’s and Women’s Swim TeamsCoach MacDonald has been the Head Coach of the Xavier Musketeers Men’s and Women’s Swim Teams for the past 15 seasons. His teams have won 6 BIG EAST Championships over the last 10 years. He has been named BIG EAST Conference Coach of the Year 3 times and Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year once. His athletes have achieved many individual and relay Conference Championships, Conference Records, NCAA qualifying times, as well as USA Swimming National and US Open qualifying times. His teams have rewritten the record books at Xavier in the pool all while setting a high standard in the classroom being ranked several times in the top 10 of GPA in Division 1 College swimming. His success comes from a philosophy of treating each athlete as their unique self and meeting them in the communication and motivational method that they feel most comfortable.

Lindsey NiergarthLindsey Niergarth joined Xavier Swimming as an assistant coach in Fall 2021, assisting head coach Brent MacDonald. In her first season at Xavier, the Musketeer men finished second at the 2022 BIG EAST Championship, collecting six event championships and eight new school records, while the Xavier women finished third, setting four new school records at the meet. Following the conference meet, 19 Musketeers earned All-BIG EAST honors. At the 2023 BIG EAST Conference, she was recognized as part of the Staff of the Year. Her success comes from a philosophy of treating each athlete as an individual and prioritizing technique and mindset in order to help them be as successful as they can in and out of the pool.
